Thank you so much to wonderful keto mum, Chloe Cox, for sharing these brilliant top tips for running the blended version of the ketogenic diet…

Some recipes may seem like there is a lot of oil (rather than using other sources of fat) however the oil helps blend all the ingredients together. I always blend it with the oil first and if too thick add some water – remember to add the water a bit at a time as you can't remove it once added. I personally prefer to use more oil over butter as the liquid from the oil helps blend it together.

Elmlea double plant based cream and Flora double plant based cream are the exact same nutritional values therefore you can swap brands depending on what is in the shop without having to alter your recipe.

This is my most important tip – weigh your blender without anything in. This will help when batch cooking as you can weigh the blender with the blends & then deduct the weight of the blender to work out how much of the blends you have.
To put this in a formula say I make a batch of 7 chicken dinners
The formula I use is: 1789.2g (blender + blend) – 768.4g (weight of empty blender) = 1020.8g (weight of the blend) 1020.8 divide by 7 (the amount of batches) = 145.8g
I would then take 5g off (because you will never get 100% of the blend scraped from the blender) =140.8g in each of the 7 dishes.

Baby fruit pouches are really good for blended diet rather than fresh fruit as they are smooth – most fresh fruit has seeds/skin which can block up a feeding tube.

I buy these plastic tubs from Amazon to store my blends in. I write on the top with a marker what it is & the date. I then freeze them & then defrost when ready to use.
