Jay was 10 yrs old when he had his first seizure. He had a few then they stopped. They returned more aggressively when he turned 14. He has been diagnosed with focal epilepsy. His seizures only happen when he is asleep. He has no warning. He has full tonic clonic seizures that last for a short while. After he is very tired, can vomit, have a headache and injure himself. He is on medication which has been increased over the past year. The worry and stress of Jay having a seizure and me not knowing is unbearable. I have a ring camera in his bedroom to monitor him. On a few occasions he has had a seizure without me knowing and had no intervention. I felt such a failure not hearing him and helping him. The Daisy Garland charity will provide Jay with a grant for an epilepsy monitor. This will give me so much peace of mind as my worst fear is SUDEP. Jay has just turned 18 and he is caring funny and active. He carries on with his life and copes tremendously. Without The Daisy Garland I wouldn't be able to afford this much needed piece of equipment.
